My Outlook on a New School Year by: Ryan Hur

As we transition into a new year, I am presented with the opportunity to reflect on my experience as a junior in high school. My experience has surprisingly been different than past years, and I dare say I am enjoying it. While my grades still might not be at the level other people wish they would be, I am mostly happy with my junior experience due to the classes that I was able to have more freedom in choosing, and the people around me.

A perfect representation of my improved school experience this year has been my psychology class. I have never been more intrigued by classroom content than when I am in psychology. The choice that I was given this year to choose the classes that actually spoke to my interests has been an influence itself, not to mention the fact that I definitely made the right choice.

One major thing I’ve noticed about myself and the people around me this year, is that everyone is seeming to find themselves and their place. This is the year where I feel like I have a more solidified and meaningful relationship with all of my friends. I’ve noticed a happier demeanor between my friends and my peers. Everyone is beginning to understand their interests and friendships. It is an indescribable feeling when you feel as if you are in exactly the right place in your life, and that has been my experience in 2017, and the beginning of junior year.

  1. Great post, Ryan, about finding yourself and your place in your junior year. You gave many examples of how you perceive your year to be better - for both yourself and your friends! Great post!

  2. Great post Ryan and you reminded us how important it is to have choice and to be excited about both your classes (I loved physiology too) and relationships with others. I have a feeling this is the beginning something special!
